German Bundesliga club RB Leipzig has officially announced the acquisition of Brazilian striker Romulo from Turkish club Goztepe. The 23-year-old forward signed a long-term contract extending until 2030, with the transfer fee reported to be €25 million (approximately $29.2 million), including bonuses.

Romulo arrives in Leipzig as a direct replacement for Benjamin Sesko, the Slovenian forward who recently transferred to Manchester United for a significantly higher fee, reportedly €85 million. Sesko's departure left a critical vacancy in Leipzig’s attacking lineup ahead of the new season.

During the prior season with Goztepe in Turkey, Romulo demonstrated strong offensive capabilities, scoring 13 goals and providing 9 assists in 29 league appearances. His performance was instrumental in assisting Goztepe's efforts in the Turkish Süper Lig.

Romulo’s football journey began at Maringa FC in Brazil, followed by development at Athletico Paranaense. He later joined Goztepe, where his impact helped the club achieve promotion to the Turkish top flight. In his debut Süper Lig season, Romulo contributed an impressive tally of 17 goals and 10 assists across all competitions, highlighting his potential and adaptability across different leagues and tactical systems.

RB Leipzig is undergoing a significant rebuild in the current off-season, coinciding with Jurgen Klopp’s inaugural term as Red Bull’s global head of football. The club also appointed Ole Werner as head coach and invested in promising talents like winger Johan Bakayoko and midfielder Arthur Vermeeren.

Sporting Director Marcel Schafer expressed confidence in Romulo’s versatile attacking role, noting his physical strength, technical skill, and goal-scoring instincts. Schafer emphasized the forward's ability to adapt swiftly and contribute to a dynamic offensive profile, which Leipzig hopes will revitalize their attacking threat following a seventh-place Bundesliga finish last season that saw them miss out on European competition.
