Tyler Robinson Arrested for Killing Conservative Activist Charlie Kirk in Utah

Tyler Robinson, 22, has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. Robinson was taken into custody late Thursday night in St. George, Utah, after his father recognized him in police-released photos and urged him to surrender.

Utah Governor Spencer Cox confirmed Robinson's arrest and stated that Robinson confessed to his father. The suspect reportedly engaged in political discussions in recent years and had mentioned Kirk's upcoming event during a family dinner. Authorities currently believe Robinson acted alone, and there is no evidence indicating additional suspects.

The shooting occurred during a "Prove Me Wrong" debate hosted by Kirk as part of Turning Point USA's "The American Comeback Tour" in front of over 3,000 attendees. Kirk, aged 31, was pronounced dead after being shot on campus. He is survived by his wife Erika and their two children.

Governor Cox described the engraved messages found on the bullet casings at the scene, which contained provocative and politically charged phrases. Investigations include reviewing local gun ranges and shops to trace the firearm's origin.

FBI Director Kash Patel and Utah authorities thanked Robinson's family for their cooperation, particularly his father's decision to involve law enforcement and clergy, aiding in the suspect's peaceful capture. President Donald Trump publicly announced the arrest on "Fox and Friends," and Vice President JD Vance accompanied Kirk's casket to Arizona for funeral arrangements.
