Weather Watch: Severe Storms Sweep Across the U.S. as Summer Begins

As summer kicks off, the United States is witnessing a mix of severe weather conditions, with stormy patterns dominating central and southern regions. Meanwhile, the West Coast is experiencing cooler temperatures due to consistent onshore winds.

On Monday, June 16, 2025, scattered severe storms are forecasted across the north-central High Plains, extending into the upper Mississippi Valley. This region is expected to see large to very large hail and significant wind damage. The Storm Prediction Center has highlighted an enhanced risk of severe thunderstorms in areas like eastern South Dakota, Minnesota, and northwestern Wisconsin.

On the West Coast, particularly in the Central Coast and Ventura County, cool temperatures are prevailing due to onshore winds. Highs are expected only in the 60s and 70s, providing a stark contrast to the typical summer warmth.
