PM Kisan 20th Installment Released: ₹20,500 Crore Credited to 9.7 Crore Farmers

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 2, 2025, released the 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, transferring ₹20,500 crore directly to the bank accounts of 9.7 crore eligible farmers across India.

The PM-Kisan scheme, launched in 2019, aims to provide financial support to small and marginal farmers. Under this flagship central sector scheme, ₹6,000 is disbursed annually in three equal installments of ₹2,000 each. Since its inception, the government has transferred over ₹3.69 lakh crore through 19 installments to farmers’ accounts as direct benefit transfers.

The 20th installment release marks more than five years of the scheme’s implementation and reaffirms the government's commitment to supporting the agricultural community. Prime Minister Modi's distribution event in Varanasi underscores the continued focus on rural welfare and farmer empowerment through direct financial assistance.

Farmers wanting to check their beneficiary status can do so via the official PM-Kisan portal. It is mandatory for registered farmers to complete their electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC) process to receive payments. OTP-based e-KYC can be performed online on the PM-Kisan portal, while biometric e-KYC is available at Common Service Centres (CSCs).

In light of recent concerns, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has issued advisories warning farmers against fraudulent messages and misleading claims circulated on social media, urging beneficiaries to rely solely on official communication channels.

Through consistent and transparent payments, the PM-Kisan scheme continues to significantly contribute to the income stability of millions of farmers, ensuring timely support for agricultural needs and rural livelihood enhancement.
