Nallapureddy Charani: Rising Star in Indian Women's Cricket
Nallapureddy Charani, a 20-year-old left-arm spinner from Andhra Pradesh, has made a remarkable entry into the Indian women's cricket scene. On June 28, 2025, she made her T20I debut against England, marking a significant milestone in her career. Charani received her T20I cap from Sneh Rana, a memorable moment for the young cricketer.
Charani's journey to the national team began with her selection in the ODI squad against Sri Lanka on April 27, 2025. She was also part of the Delhi Capitals team in the Women's Premier League, where she was sold for INR 55 lakh after a bidding war. Initially, Charani was guided towards badminton by her father, but she eventually found her passion in cricket.
In her T20I debut, Charani stunned everyone with a four-wicket haul, helping India secure a massive 97-run victory over England. Her impressive performance included figures of 4/12, which significantly contributed to England's collapse, losing their last seven wickets for just 43 runs. This victory marked one of India's biggest wins against England in the T20 format.
Charani's success is not only a testament to her talent but also an inspiration for young athletes from her region. She is the first woman from the YSR-Kadapa district to be selected for the Indian women's cricket team.
