Yamal's Acrobatic Stunner Powers Barcelona to Top of LaLiga in 3-0 Thrashing of Oviedo
FC Barcelona reclaimed the top spot in LaLiga with a 3-0 victory over bottom-of-the-table Real Oviedo at a rain-soaked Spotify Camp Nou on Sunday, thanks to clinical finishing from Dani Olmo, Raphinha, and a spectacular bicycle kick from teenage sensation Lamine Yamal.
The match, attended by 44,763 fans, saw Barcelona extend their lead to 52 points, one ahead of Real Madrid and eight clear of Atletico Madrid in third. Despite dominating possession, Hansi Flick's side struggled in a goalless first half against a resilient Oviedo, who sit last with just two wins from 21 games and a goal difference of -23.
Oviedo threatened on counters, with Ilyas Chaira firing narrowly wide in the 29th minute and Haissem Hassan forcing a save from keeper Joan Garcia. Barcelona's Raphinha had a volley denied by a stunning reflex save from Aaron Escandell late in the half.
The breakthrough came in the 52nd minute when Oviedo defender David Carmo or Kwasi Sibo hesitated on a clearance under pressure from Yamal, allowing Olmo to pounce and slot home from 16 yards.
Five minutes later, defender David Costas under-hit a back pass, gifting Raphinha a clear run on goal. The Brazilian chipped Escandell brilliantly to make it 2-0, his ninth goal in 10 matches.
Yamal sealed the win in the 73rd minute with a jaw-dropping bicycle kick from Olmo's chipped cross, volleying into the top corner for one of the goals of the season. Late chances fell to Robert Lewandowski, whose shot was saved, but the points were secure.
Injured midfielder Pedri watched from the stands as Barcelona capitalized on Oviedo's defensive errors in relentless rain that turned to hail, maintaining their perfect storm at the summit.
