PM Kisan 20th Installment Released: ₹20,500 Crore Disbursed to 9.7 Crore Farmers on August 2, 2025

The much-anticipated 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme was officially released on August 2, 2025. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the installment distribution in a public event held at Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, underscoring the government's continued commitment to supporting the farming community.

Under this latest tranche, a total of ₹20,500 crore has been credited directly into the bank accounts of approximately 9.7 crore eligible farmers across India. Since the scheme’s inception in 2019, the government has transferred over ₹3.69 lakh crore through 19 previous installments, benefitting millions of farmers nationwide.

The PM-Kisan scheme provides an income support of ₹6,000 annually to small and marginal farmers. This amount is split into three equal installments of ₹2,000 every four months, which are directly credited to beneficiaries' accounts through a direct benefit transfer mechanism.

Farmers are advised to verify their beneficiary status through the official PM-Kisan portal by entering their Aadhaar or bank account details to ensure eligibility and timely receipt of funds. Furthermore, completion of Aadhaar-based OTP e-KYC is mandatory, which can be done online or at nearby Common Service Centres, to prevent fraudulent claims and aid accurate disbursement.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has also issued advisories warning beneficiaries to remain vigilant against misinformation and fraudulent activities circulating on social media platforms related to the scheme. Farmers are encouraged to rely on official channels for authentic information.

Prime Minister Modi’s release of the 20th installment in Varanasi is especially significant, marking more than five years of sustained government support to the agricultural sector through this flagship direct benefit transfer project.
