
Malayalam Actor and Mimicry Star Kalabhavan Navas Dies at 51
Renowned Malayalam actor and mimicry artist Kalabhavan Navas has passed away at the age of 51. He was found dead in a hotel room in Chottanikkara, Kochi, on Friday evening, August 1, 2025. Preliminary reports suggest that he likely died of a heart attack.
Kalabhavan Navas was a celebrated figure in Kerala's entertainment industry, particularly known for his work in mimicry, comedy, films, television, and stage shows. He rose to prominence as part of the Kalabhavan mimicry troupe and often performed alongside his brother, Niyas Backer, another esteemed actor and mimicry artist.
Launching his film career with the 1995 movie "Chaithanyam," Navas appeared in numerous Malayalam films over three decades, including notable titles such as "Junior Mandrake," "Amma Ammayiamma," "Meenakshi Kalyanam," "Mattupetty Machan," "Chandamama," "My Dear Karadi," "One Man Show," "Vettam," "Chattambinadu," "Cobra," "ABCD," "Mylanchi Monchulla Veedu," and "Mera Naam Shaji." His last film to be released was "Detective Ujjwalan," having completed all shooting schedules recently before his untimely death.
Kalabhavan Navas was married since 2002 to an actress, and he was the son of Aboobacker, a respected actor and theatre personality in Kerala. His sudden death has shocked the Malayalam film fraternity and fans alike.
