Inter's Epic Comeback: From 2-0 Down to 6-2 Thrashing of Pisa, Six Points Clear in Serie A!
Inter Milan staged a dramatic comeback at the San Siro, overturning a 2-0 deficit to demolish relegation-threatened Pisa 6-2, extending their lead at the top of Serie A to six points.[1][2][3]
Pisa stunned the hosts early, taking the lead in the 11th minute through veteran striker Stefano Moreo. Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer's errant pass was intercepted by Moreo, who lofted a stunning 35-40 yard chip over the stranded keeper into an empty net.[1][2][4]
Moreo doubled Pisa's advantage in the 23rd minute, powerfully heading home Matteo Tramoni's corner at the near post.[1][2][3]
Inter fought back fiercely before halftime. In the 39th minute, Piotr Zielinski converted a VAR-confirmed penalty after Tramoni handled Zielinski's shot inside the box, halving the deficit.[1][2][4]
Two minutes later, Lautaro Martínez nodded in Federico Dimarco's inviting cross to level the scores.[1][2][3]
On the stroke of halftime, Francesco Pio Esposito headed home Alessandro Bastoni's cross, giving Inter a 3-2 lead.[1][2][4]
The second half saw Inter dominate but miss chances until the 82nd minute, when Dimarco volleyed in Marcus Thuram's cross, which ricocheted off both posts before crossing the line.[2][4]
Ange-Yoan Bonny added a fifth in the 86th with a fine solo effort, collecting Dimarco's pass, driving forward, and finishing from a tight angle.[1][2][4]
Henrikh Mkhitaryan sealed the rout in stoppage time (90+3'), bundling home a header from a corner.[1][2][3]
Inter now have 52 points from 22 games (17 wins, 1 draw, 4 losses, +31 goal difference), six points clear of AC Milan (46 points from 21 games) and nine ahead of defending champions Napoli (43 points).[2][3][4]
Pisa, winless in 10 league games, remain bottom with 14 points from 22 matches (1 win, 11 draws, 10 losses).[2][3][4]
Federico Dimarco reflected post-match: "We didn't start well but the important thing was to score at least one goal in the first half and we scored three." Inter next face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.[4]
