MPL 2025: The Thrilling Comeback and Upcoming Milestones in the Philippines Esports Scene
The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines season 15 and 16 are currently the hottest topics among esports enthusiasts in the region, marking a significant year in competitive gaming for the country.
After the excitement of the Magic Chess Go Go World Championships earlier this year, MPL Philippines has positioned itself as a central stage for both professional and amateur Mobile Legends players. The 2025 season marks the eighth year of professional MPL competition and the third for its amateur counterpart, MDL Philippines.
Season 15 kicked off with eight teams battling for a chance to qualify for the 2025 Mobile Legends Mid Season Cup (MSC), held alongside the Esports World Cup (EWC) in Riyadh. Notably, Philippine representatives are set to compete fiercely, aiming to reclaim glory since the last MSC win by RSG Philippines in 2022. However, this season saw some major team changes as the prominent Filipino teams Blacklist International and RSG Philippines left MPL Philippines, replaced by Saudi Arabian teams Team Falcons and Twisted Minds.
The second split, MPL Philippines Season 16 and MDL Philippines Season 6, follows the MSC and will lead teams to compete for slots in the upcoming Mobile Legends M7 World Championship, scheduled for early 2026. This global event will be especially notable as the Grand Finale will be hosted in Indonesia, the first time since M4 that it’s held in a Southeast Asian country, reconnecting the championship with its passionate regional fan base.
Aside from the major tournaments, the strength and depth of MPL as a league is emphasized by organizing these two season splits and integrating amateur divisions, which spotlight rising esports talent across the Philippines.
With the esports landscape rapidly evolving, MPL Philippines continues to solidify its place as a premier esports competition in Southeast Asia, showcasing the best of Mobile Legends gameplay, fostering regional pride, and pushing the boundaries of competitive mobile gaming.
